SMA682
Satellite sensor for airbag systems
Application & Technical Summary

The SMA682 is a versatile high-g accelerometer for automotive passive safety systems and detects the deceleration of a vehicle. It is typically used in satellite sensors to sense front and side crashes.
The SMA682 communicates via a PSI5 v1.3. All sensor data is processed by the central airbag ECU, which recognizes a crash based on acceleration data and activates the respective airbags. The sensor is developed in accordance to ISO26262 for ASIL D system use.
