SMI720

Combined inertial sensor for rollover sensing in airbag ECUs

Application & Technical Summary

SMI7xy

The SMI720 is a dual-axis (Ωx, az) combined inertial sensor (gyro and accelerometer), specifically designed for rollover applications.

Due to the combination of three chips in one housing, the SMI720 is able to measure data on the vehicle’s rotation around its roll axis (rollover gyro). In addition, it delivers data on vertical acceleration to determine the dynamic state of the vehicle and to check the plausibility of the rotation rate signal.

Product benefits

  • Excellent vibration resistance and offset stability over temperature and lifetime
  • Wide range of customized signal monitoring options
  • RoHS compliant
